Whether you’re seeking a loyal companion or a future champion, you’ll find a lineage built on trust and a community that feels like family.

About Us

Silberliss Weimaraners is founded on a genuine love and passion for this exceptional breed. What began with my first Weimaraner “Harvey” in 2000 has grown into a dedicated, ethical breeding programme rooted in health, temperament, and responsible stewardship of this beautiful and unique breed. Based in rural Essex, our dogs are raised as part of our family, enjoying space to thrive, socialise, and develop into confident, well‑rounded companions.

My journey in the show world began with Cosmo in 2012 and has since taken me across the UK and Europe, handling both my own dogs and those of other owners. This experience, combined with Kennel Club accreditation as a judge within the Gundog Group and years of hands‑on expertise, shapes every decision we make at here at Silberliss.

We breed within the strict guidelines set by our UK breed clubs, as well as the Royal Kennel Club.  We are dedicated to producing stock that meets the breed standard and remain fiercely committed to protecting the integrity of the Weimaraner. Our goal is simple: to raise beautiful, fit for purpose, healthy dogs that embody the true spirit of the breed, with heart & determination.

Lotti was a sweet, elegant and athletic bitch with beautiful lines and proportions. She had a lovely, feminine head with a gentle expression.

Lotti was our “head girl” for 14.5 years – a calm and wise matriarch. She loved to play with our new puppies and teach them the tricks of the trade!

We were so proud that Lotti appeared in Town & Country magazine and in advertising for a prestigious dog food brand.

She produced two beautiful litters with the famous Logan and my own Cosmo.

She has left a huge whole in our lives and we miss her dearly.

Silberliss Summer of Love (Dora) 10/06/2017

“Adorable” Dora is a beautiful lady with the most joyous and loving personality. She was the result of three years’ careful planning and an exciting addition to my Silberliss family.  Dora has been a wonderful mother, raising 3 litters of puppies & our own Junie.

Dora was BEST JUNIOR at The World Dog Show 2018 “Speciality Day”, Amsterdam August 2018! Dora won this prestigious title from an entry of 17 juniors from across Western & Eastern Europe.

Dora showed great style in the show ring from a young age, winning Best Baby Puppy (at just 4 months of age) on both days of the Bleiswijk International Champ Show in Holland in November 2017 & making the final 10 puppies’ cut in the Group judging out of an entry of 67!

Dora travelled to Belgium in Dec 2017 and was awarded Best Puppy at the prestigious Brussels Dog Show.

She made her UK show debut in late December 2017 and  had an extremely successful UK show career – Dora qualified for Crufts 2019/20/21/22/23/24/25, & along the way gained many wins at Championship & Open shows and was awarded numerous Best of Breed & Best Puppy in Breed titles at Open shows, along with BPIS 4 at East Anglian Gundog Open Show, Puppy Group 1 at Dunstable Open Show & Reserve Best Puppy in Show at Windsor Gundog Open Show.  Dora topped-off her puppy show career at Three Counties Champ Show where she was awarded Best Puppy in Breed by senior judge, Chris Bexon. This also qualified her for Weimaraner Puppy of the Year 2018.

In July 2018 Dora was graded Excellent and awarded Best Junior at Dunkerque International Dog Show.

Dora is now retired from the show ring, but was commended for her overall excellent breed type. Her beautiful, sound conformation results in a flowing, long & accurate stride, and the judge who gave her Puppy Group 1 at Dunstable described her head as “glorious”! Dora was always so easy to handle in the ring, being full of confidence and clearly loving the experience and she carries this same positivity through everyday life.

Silberliss Beautiful Game (Clara) 25/10/2014 - 04/03/2021

“Clara”

Silberliss Beautiful Game aka “Clara” was born on the 25th October 2013 and was from my first home-bred litter from Lotti “Royal Grace at Silberliss” and Logan “Sh Ch Ansona Gamekeeper at Arraanz JW ShCM”.

Clara loved to run like the wind and swim like a fish! She was a precious member of the Silberliss family.

History of the breed:

Despite the comparative rarity of the Breed in Great Britain, the Weimaraner has been maintained as a pure breed for well over a century in Germany and its ancestry can be seen clearly in paintings dated as long ago as 1630.

The dogs were originally bred in the independent state of Weimar, for their qualities of intelligence, companionship and beauty, and especially for their all round ability to hunt, point, track & retrieve in all sorts of cover whatever the terrain.

Once developed, the Nobles of Weimar, who jealously kept their dogs from other ownership, preserved the excellent characteristics of these dogs, and when in the course of time, the independent state of Weimar became part of a United Germany the German Weimaraner Club followed in this tradition.

It was only in 1937 that the first Weimaraners were exported to the U.S.A. and not until World War II that any numbers reached owners outside Germany. The Weimaraner was introduced to Britain by Major R.H. Petty in 1952. He had hunted with them whilst serving in Germany.

Hunt, Point Retrieve

The Weimaraner is one of the sub-group known as the Hunt Point & Retrieve breeds, within the Gundog group. He is an all purpose gundog but his character and temperament is quite dissimilar to that of other gundogs.

He was originally bred to be the tool for the foresters who worked him. He had to be capable of tracking and holding at bay such game as boar and deer. He had to have the ability to find, flush and retrieve fur & feathered game for the pot. He had to catch and kill predators that deprived his master of sport and also defend him and his property. He was intended to be a powerful hunting dog with a strong protective instinct.

What he is not

He is not the wisest choice for a completely novice dog owner. Of course there are the exceptions. People do buy him as a first dog and succeed admirably in his care and training. These are the people who have energy to match the Weimaraner’s own, who are possessed of patience, perseverance, and a certain amount of gritty determination. He must know from an early age exactly what position he holds in the family pecking order and if you are wise that will be at the bottom of the heap.

He does not take kindly to being left alone all day and every day and can show his disapproval by being noisy (very), destructive, or both. He needs free running exercise as well as disciplined walking and also to have his mind occupied. With correct training the Weimaraner will make a good family dog but he will never make an easy pet.

What makes him tick?

He is full of charm, a loving beast with a quick intelligence and a stubborn streak a mile wide. He will given the chance take over the household and all its adjuncts. He can become too possessive , too demanding , too intolerant of strangers. Under exercised, unoccupied and bored he can wreak havoc. Jaws such as his can make light work of the happy home. He is also quite capable of rearranging your landscape and can introduce a cavern or tasteful tunnel with apparently very little effort.

Everything about this beautiful animal has an element of challenge. He is such a ‘get up and go’ creature possessed of a quick intelligence, an abundance of energy, a drive to hunt, a streak of possessiveness and an exaggerated devotion, which has to be tempered to the demands of a modern world. He is not everyone’s dog and should not be looked upon as a commercial proposition although, alas, he sometimes is. If you take him on you must remember his heritage and be sure you can apply the challenge and its immense rewards.
